Chinese New Year 2012
Year of the Dragon
The current cycle of 60 years for the Chinese Calendar is based upon the cycles of the moon with the next Chinese New Year, being celebrated on January 23rd, 2012. The Chinese believe the animal ruling the year in which a person is born has a profound influence on personality, saying: "this is the animal that hides in your heart." The Dragon is considered the most auspicious animal in the Chinese zodiac and is known to be blessed with good health. Chinese New Year is celebrated with family reunions, with brightly coloured Callas being especially popular. The New Year’s celebrations end with the lantern festival.

Valentine's Day
February 14
An obscure history and many legends background Saint Valentine. Today Valentine's Day is celebrated with the giving of cards and flowers to a loved one. Some of the most popular flowers are hydrangeas which are available in strong reds, pure whites and beautiful blues with the multi coloured callas also greatly admired!

Ohigan March
Spring Equinox
"Shunbun-no-hi" is March 20 and gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate nature and cherish life. "Shunbun" is the start of Spring and the first of the 24 seasons. Many Buddhist services are performed in this week. Leucadendron Safari Sunset is in high demand.

Mother's Day
Celebrated on different days around the world
Celebrated in France on the last Sunday in May with a family dinner and the giving of a cake. In the United States and Japan this day is observed on the second Sunday in May with the giving of flowers and other gifts.
